My LCHF approach

Low carb. High fat. Simple enough to live with.

This is the way I eat and talk about low carb: 75% of calories from fat, 20% from protein, and 5% from carbohydrates. I count net carbs and began with the clear boundaries of the original 1972 Atkins approach.

75% fat20% protein5% carbs
The calculation I use

Total carbohydrates − fiber − sugar alcohols = net carbohydrates

Check the serving size first. If you eat two servings, double every number before calculating. Sugar is already included in total carbohydrates, so don’t subtract it again.

If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or take medicine that affects blood glucose or blood pressure, talk with a qualified health professional before making a major diet change.
