Creating a blog on a Budget

Blog Budget for 2018

January is almost here again and it’ll be time to do our taxes again and all that good stuff. So I’m thinking how much have I earned last year. We need to think now about how we are going to make sure we can cover all costs of our blog and still earn some extra money as a profit/income. I think a lot of us are not spending enough time budgeting our costs.  It really is important to budget everything in so you know where you’re at!

I have always had a website or thirty! Yes, thirty I actually used to own over 150 domains. I was and still am a web host and I would create sites and sell them. That died down a lot. I always had a site that was similar to a blog, but it was all handwritten HTML by me. When I found the WordPress script which comes free with most cPanel hosting. So that’s a bonus!

We all also wish we could get more stuff for our blogs, like designs, logos, buttons, etc. free, but it’s just not logical. You do have to put out a little to make your blog what you want it. For me, I can design, create images and layout sites. I do not have to pay for that. I do however pay for a server monthly, so I can offer to host and host over 30 of my own sites.

Spending that’s required for the year $184
Up to 60% OFF NEW Hosting + $4.99 on Select Domains with Promo Code Spring2017

Hosting – Approximately $35 – $100 a year depending on where you go. I have to host and it’s pretty good priced and you have me for your help.
Themes – $60 approximately There are a lot of WordPress themes out there, but I recommend Genesis Framework that comes with a sample theme
Logo & Button – $5 – $15 for these depending on where you go. You can use Fiverr to get your creations for a really reasonable price of $5!

Another optional blog spending per year $60
Backup and Restore options – $10 – $50 a month this one really varies
Domain Privacy – Mom’s Domains prices are pretty good!

Plus there is the cost of your computer, internet service and in some cases business licenses.

Always Recommended!
Take time to look for the best reputable web hosting company, like this one, HostGator. A lot of the time they offer good prices on the first year. You can make friends with a blog designer maybe you could get a better deal on a design or work out a deal to pretty your site up in lieu of ad space. And do not forget about sites like Fiverr!

What will your blog expenses be for your blog this upcoming year?
