One Coconut Equals Lots of Product!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My husband brought home two coconuts and they were $1.98 each.  I was like why on earth did you bring this crap home?   So then after a few days I did a little research on what I can do with them.  I found I could drain the coconut water really simply, then I cracked it open and removed the coconut meat!  I did have to peel off a thin layer of brown after I got it all out of the shell.  That took me a good forty minutes.   Once I got it all done I rinsed it all off and put it in the ninja.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI added enough water to pretty much almost cover the coconut.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI turned the ninja on 3 and processed it!

I let it blend for about two minutes and then I poured it into a Nut Milk Bag and squeezed it. I didn’t photograph that part because my hands were soaking wet and busy.

Above was the coconut milk I made and got 27.7 ounces out of that one coconut!

I also got 13.1 ounces of shredded, more like chopped fine coconut! Not too bad!!!

I also got 6.3 ounces of coconut water from that nut! Impressive for just $1.98 I must say!  I love coconut and I won’t use it often.  I am however going to make a coconut ice cream later today.  Which is why I did this to the coconut.  The milk is in the fridge and if it gets any solid form in there that will be oil! 🙂 lol cool beans, oh wait I mean cool coconut! No beans here! lol
