Chocolate Candy Sweetened w/Xylitol
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp MorningPep Xylitol
2 tbsp bakers cocoa
Extracts of your choice!
Melt butter in microwave, add Xylitol and stir until it won’t dissolve any more then nuke 30 seconds, but WATCH IT! You don’t want it to burn! I had to do this twice to dissolve Xylitol. Once it’s pretty much smooth add cocoa powder and mix well, then add coconut oil.
I made 4 total candies, 2 are chocolate, 1 chocolate almond and 1 chocolate orange.
These have .5 net carbs each!
So how would I rate the Xylitol? Well I must say it’s pretty darn good! We really liked the candies and they turned out better than when I use syrup! I was very pleased with the sweetness that was added. I used some in my coffee this morning too. It sweetened it right up and melted better in a hot cup of coffee.
The benefits of using a product like MorningPep’s Xylitol is made in the USA and I love that fact alone! It’s perfect for coffee, tea, baking or even cereal! This stuff looks just like sugar and tastes pretty much like it. There is a slight difference, but not bitter that’s for sure! It’s 40% lower in calories than regular sugar. It’s considered safe for Diabetics, low calorie not that I count calories lol, but also low carb and low glycemic index!
All in all I really enjoyed using it so far and have been using it in my coffee and working switching the hubby to this! 🙂 Make the whole house sugar free! Now that sounds like a Winner right there!
